The Kimmel Center's Marian Anderson Hall will be filled with the sounds of her groundbreaking music for the 3rd annual Mazzoni Center Honors.
"Philadelphia is like extended family," says Moore. "I have so much history there."
"Melba's music brought life to people, and the work at Mazzoni Center helps people live their lives as their full selves, and literally saves lives," says David Weisberg, the Chief Development Officer at Mazzoni Center. "We see 15,000 patients and clients every year, many of whom, if we did not exist, would have no place to go for care. We're the only place that they feel safe."
To honor Moore, an all-star lineup of award-winning artists will perform her hits.
"It's going to be an incredible evening of entertainment, because they're all incredible artists," says Moore.
Proceeds from the night support the Mazzoni Center's mission.
"I can already cry, because I know I'm going to see people honoring me and meet people that I had these long relationships with," says Moore. "I'm really going to need a big box of tissues. It's going to be so incredible."
Tickets are still available. Visit the Mazzoni Center website for more.
