Meta glasses may have recorded South Philadelphia shooting that critically injured man, police say

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A man is fighting to stay alive after getting shot in the head in South Philadelphia.

Police responded to the 1100 block of Kater Street just after 10:30 p.m. on Thursday when they heard gunshots nearby.

They found the victim lying unresponsive in the street.

He was taken to the hospital.

Detectives say they are also focused on an abandoned car that appears to have been struck by gunfire at least four times.

"One of those rounds did end up going through the driver's seat, and luckily, nobody inside that vehicle was struck. Nobody was on scene inside the vehicle. So that was abandoned on the highway as it crashed into the end of the block," Capt. Timothy Stephan, with the Philadelphia Police Department.

Police say they recovered two guns from the scene, including one beneath the victim.

Investigators also found Meta glasses at the scene and believe they may have recorded the incident.

Authorities have not named any suspects or a motive.
