Montgomery County nonprofit provides small moments of joy to grieving families

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Pennsylvania (WPVI) -- For those in mourning, there's a local woman whose journey has aligned with theirs.

Understanding the non-linear stages of grief, she's dedicated to providing support beyond the initial loss.

All of this is in honor of Founder Rebecca DiTore's husband, who lost his life to brain cancer.

She carries his memory forward through the foundation, helping others in his name.

"My husband Mike.... battled brain cancer for about 17 months. During the time that he was sick, we had so much support. After he died, a lot of that support went away... Everyone else's lives go on, seemingly go back to normal, when yours is stopped. That's where 'Small Moments' was born," said DiTore.

When her care packages get delivered to a family, all she hopes is that for a moment, they feel less alone.

"We've reached over 30 families, over 60 children. I hope that we continue to grow, reach more families who are in need, who are feeling that loneliness after a loss, and to have a deeper impact on all of those families," said DiTore.
