PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- It's been five months since a man was shot and killed in the city's Kensington section. Now, his mother is seeking justice for her son.

"It's been real hard, because it happened so suddenly."

Yvonne Kirkland is still struggling to come to terms with the shooting death of her son, Eddie Kendrick.

He was shot in the head while sitting on his own couch inside his apartment on the 2600 block of North Howard Street on March 17th, 2025.

The 37-year-old was relaxing after returning home from work.

Kendrick was one of seven children, which has left his family heart broken.

"I just wish you could give me peace. It wasn't fair for you to take my son," says Kirkland.

Police say someone fired from outside, and a number of bullets tore through Kendrick's apartment, and the unit below him, where a woman and her children were sitting watching tv together.

The woman suffered a gunshot wound to the shoulder, and has physically recovered.

Police say that Kendrick clung to life for three days, before succumbing to his injuries.

"I would like if anybody know any thing, please anything, so I can have peace, so my son can be at peace," says Kirkland.

There is a $20,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in this case.
