According to a survey by the website "Innerbody," New Jersey is America's most ice cream-obsessed state.
That is followed closely by Delaware, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and New York, however Pennsylvania comes in way behind at 17.
It may surprise some that the colder Northeast states love ice cream more than the hotter states.
Well, researchers say that the answer may be in the history books.
Long before refrigeration, winters made it possible to harvest and preserve ice, while local farms supplied the cream, helping to turn ice cream from a novelty into something routine.
And that also means the northeast has some of the highest concentrations of ice cream shops per capita.
When it comes to favorite ice cream flavors.
New Jersey' and Pennsylvania's favorite is chocolate chip, while Delaware's is birthday cake.
Nationwide, the top flavor is strawberry.
