New Jersey Governor Mikie Sherrill signs executive order to limit junk fees

TRENTON, N.J. (WPVI) -- New Jersey Governor Mikie Sherrill and Attorney General Jennifer Davenport announced actions to decrease and eliminate junk fees.

Junk fees consist of hidden, unnecessary, or unexpected add-on charges that increase prices.

Governor Sherrill signed an executive order Monday.

It directs all state agencies to analyze the impact of junk fees on industries, and report recommendations to reduce them, increasing transparency for the consumer.

New Jersey residents are encouraged to report suspected junks fees to the state's Division of Consumer Affairs.
