Nicholas Sparks, M. Night Shyamalan talk new book/film collab at the Kimmel Center

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Best-selling author Nicholas Sparks, known for novels like "The Notebook," and Philly's own psychological thriller filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan, have teamed up for the brand new book called "Remain: A Supernatural Love Story."

The duo is coming to town on Monday, October 13, for a special event next week to talk about their new project together.

It's quite the collaboration. Are Sparks and Shyamalan an unlikely pair, or are they a perfect match?

That's what they'll talk about when they sit down with a crowd at the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia on October 13.

"Remain: A Supernatural Love Story" is a book that just hit the shelves. Next October, the film version will hit the big screen.

"I think a lot of people are a little bit surprised about this collaboration," says Sparks. "The only people that aren't surprised are Night and I, because we see more similarities in our stories than anyone else. We both like twists at the end."

Sparks says this is a supernatural love story with mystery and danger. From page to screen, he says, there's also some suspense built in.

"M. Night is known for his twists in his films," Sparks says. "So people wonder if you will already know the twist when you read the novel. Well, this assumes that the novel and the film have the same ending. You will have to read the novel and see the film to know the answer to that question!"
