NJ Sergeant indicted over response to double homicide in Hunterdon County

FRANKLIN TWP., N.J. (WPVI) -- A police sergeant in Hunterdon County, New Jersey, has been indicted by a grand jury on official misconduct charges following his botched response to a double murder-suicide.

The incident happened on August 1, 2025. Witnesses called 9-1-1 to report gunfire and screaming near a home in Franklin Township.

Investigators allege that rather than responding to that report, Sgt. Kevin Bollaro went to an ATM.

During that time, New Jersey State Police Lt. Ricardo Santos had shot and killed his ex-girlfriend, Lauren Semanchik, and her new boyfriend, Tyler Webb, before killing himself.

Investigators say when Sgt. Bollaro finally arrived, he never turned on his body-worn camera or thoroughly cleared the scene.

The victims were not found until the next day.
