"Mostly concerned for safety. My family is here. This is freaking my son out," said Jearold Hersey.
Hersey says since September, at least 20 young women have knocked on his door for a hair appointment. They scheduled it through the number posted on a TikTok page called "Nariah the Hairstylist."
"It's kind of nerve-racking because you don't really know who is coming to the door," said Hersey.
Hersay says the women told him that once they sent the requested deposit through Cash App, the account creator sent them an address. The location turned out to be Hersey's home as well as his neighbors.
"That's really got to be a terrible experience," said Hersey. "It's just preying on young women, too."
Neighbors posted a note on their door warning women that their address "has been used for an online scam."
"Sometimes people see the sign and go away, and sometimes people bang on the door and they're yelling in front of their door, or they just don't leave," said Hersey.
Action News texted and called the number posted on the TikTok page. The woman said she'll send the location after receiving $25. But when asked about the alleged scheme, she hung up.
Hersey hopes this is a warning call for others.
"I really want them to get caught in all honesty," said Hersey. "This isn't cool. It's not fair to the people, not just the people who are getting ripped off for money; we feel unsafe as well."
Hersey says he also reported the page to TikTok.
