NWS confirms EF-0 tornado touched down in Downingtown during severe storms

DOWNINGTOWN, Pa. (WPVI) -- The National Weather Service has confirmed that an EF-0 tornado touched down in Downingtown, Pennsylvania, during severe storms Thursday evening.

Meteorologists are continuing to survey the damage and are expected to release additional details about the tornado's path, intensity, and any possible damage associated with the storm.



Dramatic footage filmed near an LA Fitness in Downingtown shows heavy rain lashing the area as debris is tossed across the parking lot.

The Downingtown tornado is the second confirmed tornado in the Philadelphia region from Thursday's severe weather outbreak.



The National Weather Service previously confirmed that at least an EF-1 tornado struck Dover, Delaware, producing estimated wind speeds of 105 mph and leaving behind significant damage.

No injuries have been reported in connection with either tornado.
