Some local parents began pooling their money as soon as they found out the club, known as the Sugar Shack, was going on the market.
They say they want to buy the building because they believe it has been a point of shame in the neighborhood.
"In the summer especially when the kids are out playing, they're playing here out front and they're seeing the comings and goings of what's going on in the strip club and it's not good for them to see that," one parent said.
Instead, they want the building to be something that benefits children and area families.
The parents have pooled $55,000 dollars of their own funds and have raised nearly $5,000 dollars from a crowd funding website.
They have 90 days to get the financing they need in order to buy the building.
