Pedestrian killed in crash involving off-duty Camden County officer

CAMDEN, N.J. (WPVI) -- Authorities in Camden County are investigating a fatal crash involving an off-duty officer and a pedestrian.

The collision happened around 1 a.m. Tuesday in the westbound lanes of Admiral Wilson Boulevard near 16th Street in Camden.

Officials identified the victim as 19-year-old Angel Saravia Estrada.

According to investigators, an off-duty officer struck the victim after he entered the roadway.

Authorities said an on-duty officer with the Delaware River Port Authority Police Department also stopped at the scene and attempted to render aid.



The victim was transported to Cooper University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Officials said the off-duty officer remained at the scene.

The circumstances leading up to the crash have not been released.
