Pennsylvania closer to banning cellphones in school classrooms

Updated 2 hours ago
Pennsylvania lawmakers moved one step closer to banning cellphones during school hours.

The bell-to-bell classroom cellphone ban passed the Pa. House Education Committee Tuesday and now goes before the entire House.

The State Senate's bill would require each school district to develop its own bell-to-bell cellphone policy.

Governor Josh Shapiro supports the measure.

The bill is similar to one in New Jersey that will go into effect next school year.
