HARRISBURG, Pa. (WPVI) -- Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro signed an executive order Tuesday in Harrisburg to place guardrails on data centers.
There are currently more than 100 data center proposals in the commonwealth.
Governor Shapiro says moving forward, developers will be required to pay their own energy costs, meet high environmental standards, and be approved by the local community.
The order also removes all data center projects from the fast-track permitting program.
