Person fatally struck by train near Norwood station

NORWOOD, Pa. (WPVI) -- Delaware County police are investigating a fatal accident involving an Amtrak train in Norwood.

The incident happened around 10:30 a.m. Sunday near the Norwood Train Station on Welcome Avenue.

Amtrak says a person was fatally injured after being struck by the #2250 Acela Express train heading from Washington D.C. to Boston.

No further details on the victim have been released.

Officials say the 133 passengers on board were not injured.

SEPTA suspended its Wilmington/Newark Regional Rail service for a time while police were on the scene.
