Phila. City Council considers sales tax extension

CENTER CITY (WPVI) -- Philadelphia City Council is considering legislation to extend the additional 1-percent sales tax, to provide funding for the school district.

At the start, all of it will go to schools, then over four years, the formula would adjust to a split between schools and the city pension system.

Even with this potential revenue source, the district would still be in a financial hole.

The plan first needs approval from Harrisburg.
