PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Philadelphia's top prosecutor is making a public plea to the mayor for more money to run his office.

In an open letter to Mayor Cherrelle Parker released on Monday, District Attorney Larry Krasner implores the mayor to add $5.6 million to the $60 million her budget proposed.

Krasner says the money would be used for several new initiatives, including Gun Violence Task Force operations and victim services.

The budget could be finalized in the coming days or weeks.

In response to the letter, a spokesperson for the Mayor highlighted a 55% increase in the District Attorney's Office budget since 2022.
