Philly man sentenced to prison, must pay back $1M in cargo theft ring case, including dime heist

Some heists included everything from frozen crab legs to refrigerators, and even more than $230,000 in dimes.

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A Philadelphia man was sentenced to 11 years in prison and must pay back a $1 million for taking part in a cargo theft ring that hit several tractor-trailers in the city.

Haneef Palmer, pleaded guilty back in March to conspiracy, robbery and other federal offenses.

Palmer worked with a group of people to steal everything from frozen crab legs to refrigerators and even more than $230,000 in dimes.

Investigators say they would use bolt cutters and then sell the items they stole.

In all, investigators accuse the robbery group of stealing over $1.5 million in goods from at least 10 victims.
