PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Philadelphia police released surveillance images on Wednesday of a man wanted in connection with a violent attack on a woman last week.

The incident happened around 11:30 p.m. on Aug. 15 near the 2000 block of South Street. The victim, Sophie Coran, told Action News the suspect bludgeoned her with a glass bottle.

Coran was left with stitches on her forehead, staples on the back of her head, and bruising across her body.

Philadelphia police say the suspect approached Coran and tried to grab her phone. When she resisted, he struck her with the bottle and shoved her to the ground before fleeing westbound on South Street.

Authorities are also investigating another incident that occurred in the area hours earlier, though it remains unclear if the two are connected.
