PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Philadelphia students were recognized on Wednesday for helping build healthier schools.

Mayor Cherelle Parker was on hand to celebrate 32 schools for their innovative and eco-friendly projects at the Fairmount Horticultural Center.

Each school was awarded up to $2,500 to create and enhance projects benefiting recycling and the environment as part of the Green Schools Program.

This year, the program funded over $75,000 to support school projects.
