People out trying to stock up early on Wednesday were met with some empty shelves in terms of snow supplies.
"Road salt, ice melt, out of stock everywhere. I saw the sign on the door that said, 'Out of salt.' I said, 'Ehhh, I better verify,'" said Sean O'Neill of North Wales.
Supplies started to dwindle after the round of snow from last weekend.
LIVE UPDATES: Snowstorm set to hit the Philly region this weekend
"Oh, busy, we're really busy, they're coming in buying up 3 to 4 bags at a time. We've been going through it like crazy, can't keep it in stock," explained Melissa Goda, the assistant manager at Fishers Ace Hardware in Lansdale.
The business is one of many hardware stores across the region that are quickly trying to replenish their salt supply.
Luckily, they have a shipment coming in early Friday morning, but they expect it to go quickly.
However, solar salt used for water softeners is an option.
"The only thing with this is it's a little bit bigger, so it takes longer to melt, but it does the same thing, so we're selling this until we get our salt in," said Goda.
Shovels are also flying off the shelves. The last one sold before 6 p.m. on Wednesday night.
"Broke our last shovel last storm, had to get a replacement before the storm, and panic sets in this weekend," said John Worthington of North Wales.
Shoppers are getting out before the rush at the Acme in Bala Cynwyd.
"Getting my groceries before the weather hits. I'm ahead of the rush," said Rodney Williams of Strawberry Mansion.
Acme said they're ready with more deliveries on the way before the storm.
Essentials look different for everyone, but now's the time to prepare before the storm moves in.
Fishers will be getting their next salt delivery early Friday morning for those still looking to buy salt.
They also have plenty of heaters and generators as we get ready for what's to come.
