Thousands of people marched down the Ben Franklin Parkway in a display of patriotism, pride and gratitude for those who have served our country.
And it wasn't just Philadelphians who came out.
Jason Dudley and Mario Lozoya are in town from Arizona to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the Marine Corps, which was founded right here in Philly.
"This is incredible - in the rain, Philadelphia has absolutely showed up and I couldn't be prouder," Dudley said.
"It's the birthplace of the Marine Corps right here. We came out here and wanted to celebrate with all the other Marines here in town. It's a fabulous blessing that we can have to be able to be here," Lozoya said.
For Army veteran Vanessa Morbeck, seeing all the support and resources offered to vets at this event hits home.
"We come back with so many different type of injuries - mentally and physically - some of us are still here and some of us have passed," Morbeck said. "We're marching for them as well."
Channel 6 is proud to broadcast and host the parade, an event that holds special meaning for our own TaRhonda Thomas.
"This means a lot to me because my family has five generations of military service army Navy, Air Force, Marines, and to be able to be out on the parade route, it's a great way to say thank you," Thomas said.
The official 250th anniversary of the Marine Corps is Monday November 10.
