Whatever emotions and traumas they may endure, they need to look no further than a paintbrush and a canvas.
It's an art academy developed by Teisha Brown, where mentors guide them through each brush stroke, providing them lifelong experiences and connections.
"Art is a language, right? And so they speak to us through that. They find ways to express themselves that they may not necessarily have words," said Brown.
"We've seen anger. We see grief. A lot of grief. We have a lot of children who are victims of gun violence. And so a lot of times they don't always understand what's happening, but that doesn't change what they're experiencing. And so, art is a way for them to show that," she continued.
