PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A man is dead after a shooting that police say appears to have stemmed from an apparent parking dispute in Philadelphia's Germantown section.

The incident happened around 7:20 p.m. Wednesday in the 6100 block of Magnolia Street.

Police said the victim was found with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

According to Philadelphia Police Capt. Louis Higginson, the man who fired the gun called police and reported that he acted in self-defense. He is currently being questioned by investigators.

Authorities have not released further details about the shooting.

No charges have been filed at this time.

Higginson said officers had previously responded to the same neighborhood in January for a separate dispute, also believed to be related to parking.

Anyone with information on Wednesday's shooting is asked to call police at 215-686-TIPS.
