READING, Pa. (WPVI) -- The people of Reading, Pennsylvania are having a change of heart about their city's official Christmas tree.

Residents were upset with the 50-foot Norway spruce and its scraggly branches, comparing it to the infamous sapling in "A Charlie Brown Christmas."

Some even called it an embarrassment and demanded a replacement.

However the city is now embracing the tree and making the best of it.

In the tradition of the Peanuts gang, the public is invited to join together in a Charlie Brown-style Christmas tree makeover this weekend.
