PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Our good friend Ron Jaworski loves coming to 6abc studios to talk up the Eagles.

But what Jaws loves to do more than that - what he lives to do - is helping others. And he is making a difference.

It's a name synonymous with Philadelphia sports: Ron Jaworski. From his playing days with the Eagles to his time as an NFL analyst, no one does it better than Jaws.

But it's what he does away from the game of football that makes him a truly special human being. It all starts with his foundation, the Jaws Youth Playbook.

"How long have you been doing Jaws Youth Playbook?" asked Action News' Ducis Rodgers.

"My hair is a different color," laughed Jaws. "In 1984, we founded the Jaws Playbook."

And the mission is to help kids.

The inspiration for the cause is none other than Jaws' wife, Liz.

"My wife was a major in childhood education. She just convinced me how important kids were in the growth of the world - not only just locally, but in the world. To treat kids the right way, and how to raise kids. She taught me so much," said Jaws.

Those lessons have created more smiles than Jaws could have ever imagined. The foundation promotes health and wellness for at-risk children in the greater Philadelphia area. The impact is enormous.

"It sometimes breaks my heart when I see some of these kids, how they're living. When you see some kids out there not getting an opportunity, it bothers me. It pains me. So by using my platform, I think I can make a difference," he said.

The emotion is raw because the results are real. Building playgrounds and ball fields, donating sports equipment, providing healthy meals and, of course, his holiday bike giveaway - it's all about helping children in need.

"To see a smile on their face is pretty, pretty remarkable," said Jaws, getting emotional. "It means a lot. You know, it's people like you and 6abc that give me a platform to talk about the good things that we're doing. And, you know, we're just scratching the surface with Jaws Youth Playbook."

To date, the Jaws Youth Playbook has donated an incredible $8.5 million to at-risk youth.

"Whenever I think about the good work that we do, it puts a smile on my face, and I just can't wait to do more," said Jaws.
