2 killed after car collides with pickup truck, ends up in lake in Shamong Township

SHAMONG TOWNSHIP, N.J. (WPVI) -- Two people were killed when their car ended up in a lake after colliding with a pickup truck in Burlington County, New Jersey.

The crash happened just before 8 p.m. Monday on U.S. Highway 206 in Shamong Township.

The victims have been identified as John and Theresa Hawley, both 66 years old, of Marlton.

Authorities say the 21-year-old driver of the pickup truck suffered just minor injuries.



The view from Chopper 6 showed marine units searching the water near the scene of the crash.



The circumstances of the crash remain under investigation.
