CAMDEN, N.J. (WPVI) -- Rutgers University-Camden celebrated a big step in its Cooper Street Gateway Project on Tuesday.

The university held a topping off ceremony at 4th and Cooper Streets. The final steel beam was raised for the $60 million development.

Construction crews are building a new campus hub, which will connect the university with the Camden community.

The three-story facility will bring the School of Arts and Sciences under one roof. The project will add office space, and create shared indoor and outdoor areas.

Officials say the project is a cornerstone investment in the the school's ongoing commitment to enhancing the campus experience, while contributing to the continued revitalization of the City of Camden.
