If those items seem a little more upscale than what you usually find here at the Career Wardrobe's Wardrobe Boutique, it's because the store has a new policy that's going to offer shoppers some great deals.
Now, the Spring Garden shop is paying for higher-end items.
Manager Jessica Rennard explains, "Whenever you're cleaning out your closets, you have a pile of things you're willing to donate, and then you may have some things that you're not willing to donate, but maybe you would want some cash for. So, we thought, let's be a one-stop shop for your donations and then the higher-end items that you possibly want to consign."
But unlike traditional consignment shops, you don't have to wait until your items sell to get paid. Rennard and her staff price items at about 50% of new retail when you bring them in and you get your half of that price by check within a week.
"Most places do a 40/60 split, and we're doing 50/50," Rennard says. "So, 50% goes back to you, you'll get a check within three days for half of whatever we price it for. The other half goes to Career Wardrobe."
Not surprisingly, this new policy is bringing in lots of in-demand designer duds. And you don't even have to come to the store to get the deals. Many items priced over $30 are now also available on the boutique's website.
You do need to make an appointment to have your clothing priced. You can call the Wardrobe Boutique at 215-568-2660 or email boutique@careerwardrobe.org. The store is located at 1822 Spring Garden Street.
