Power companies across the region say thousands of customers are without power as crews work to get it back on.
The storms also prompting a tornado warning in parts of South Jersey.
Gloucester County in New Jersey was among areas hit quite hard.
Action News has learned that schools in Mantua Township will be closed Wednesday due to the storm damage.
The district says it will assess whether it can reopen Thursday.
The Mantua Fire Department said multiple roads are also closed, including Bridgeton Pike, between Mantua Blvd. and Mt Royal Rd.; Berkley Rd., between Bridgeton Pike and Harrison Ave.; as well as multiple side streets in residential neighborhoods.
Emergency crews responded to multiple reports of downed trees, trees falling onto homes and other structures, downed power lines, power outages and at least some reported collapsed structures.
Two residents were briefly trapped after a tree crashed into their home in Mantua Township. It was not immediately clear whether either person was injured.
Officials in Gloucester County are urging residents to stay home if possible as crews continue cleanup and assess storm damage.
No serious injuries had been reported as of Tuesday night.
Storm damage across region
There are also reports of damage in Wilmington, Delaware.
The National Weather Services said Wednesday they they will be investigating the storm in Delaware City, New Castle County. There, winds reached upward of 68 mph.
More than 10,000 PECO customers are still without power Wednesday morning.
At one point, 20% of residents in Honey Brook, Chester County, were without power.
Delmarva is reporting more than 5,000 outages; A.C. Electric reports roughly 4,000 outages and PSE&G with under 400.
New video also shows a fallen tree that blocked Susquehanna Road and Mill Road in Abington Township, Montgomery County.
