Several injured after SUV driver loses control, plows into store at North Park Plaza in Downingtown

DOWNINGTOWN, Pa. (WPVI) -- Several people were injured when an SUV crashed through a storefront on Wednesday afternoon in Downingtown, Chester County.

The crash happened just before 1 p.m. at the North Park Plaza in the 100 block of Wallace Avenue.

Police say an adult man driving a blue Mercedes SUV crashed through the storefront of one business, continued through the interior wall, and then went into a second business.

Bystanders were able to help the driver out of the SUV. He was the only occupant of the vehicle.

He declined medical treatment by EMS.



Three women in the building at the time of the crash suffered minor injuries, and police say two of them were taken to the hospital for further evaluation.

The two businesses that were damaged will be closed until repairs can be made, but other businesses within the same building are open.

The Downingtown Police Department said it is investigating this incident as an unintentional vehicle crash. The driver's name is not being released at this time.
