PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Several residents along 15th Street in South Philadelphia say their vehicles were damaged after a chaotic incident involving a suspected drunk driver late Sunday night.

The first crash was reported by neighbors just after 11 p.m. at 15th and Dickinson streets and spanned several blocks.

Witnesses say the loud sounds of the crashes drew neighbors outside, where they saw a black vehicle striking parked cars.

"I was just watching TV last night, heard a loud bang, walked on our balcony and saw this guy just running into cars," said Matthew Keilholtz.

Austin Marks, whose father's car was among those damaged, said the impact left the vehicle nearly undrivable.

"When you drive it, you can feel it immediately. The whole car pushes to the left, and when you hit the brake, it makes a big giant noise. The brakes are locking up in the back and the tire is wobbling, so it's really bad," Marks said.

"Underneath, the suspension is shot. The brakes are bad. It's pretty much basically almost undriveable," Marks said.

Marks and other neighbors believe the driver had attended the Sixers game earlier that evening. They identified the man as wearing a Sixers jersey and said he attempted to pay Marks off.

"I was on the phone with the police, and he was trying to bribe me to take money," Marks said. "I said, 'Sir, you're drunk, you're gonna kill somebody.'"

Marks described a chaotic scene in which the driver allegedly fled with an injured passenger partially hanging out of the car.

"He takes off and hits about five cars with the lady half out of the car that was in the passenger seat," Marks said. "He was slamming into cars with the door with her in it, and the girl in the backseat - she jumped out."

Neighbors say the vehicle involved was an older model black Nissan Maxima. They said a bumper from the car was left behind at the scene.

Keilholtz, whose car sustained minor damage, estimated that 10 to 15 vehicles were hit.

"He went all the way down 15th like six or seven blocks, so we just lost him," Keilholtz said. "His car is pretty banged up. I think it's easy to identify."

Philadelphia police confirmed they are investigating the incident but have not released further details.

Residents hope someone in the community or law enforcement will be able to locate the vehicle and its driver.
