BEAR, Del. (WPVI) -- Athletes traded sneakers for snowshoes in a first-of-its-kind race in Delaware on Wednesday.
Special Olympics Delaware hosted its first-ever in-state snowshoeing competition at Lums Pond State Park in Bear.
Nearly 60 athletes from across the first state took part.
Snowshoeing has grown in popularity within the Special Olympics movement over the past few years.
Previously, these athletes from Delaware had to travel to Pennsylvania to compete.
