Straight line winds with gusts upward of 75 mph, cause widespread storm damage in Delaware, NWS says

BETHEL, Del. (WPVI) -- The National Weather Service says straight line winds, with gusts upward of 75 miles per hour, caused widespread damage in southern Delaware.



A number of trees and wires were downed during the height of the storm in Bethel, Sussex County, near the Maryland border Saturday.

A Tornado Warning had been issued, but weather officials have determined that high winds caused the damage and not a tornado.
