OwowCow is part of a campaign to provide relief after significant tree fruit loss.
"There was a frost that killed almost all of the stone fruit trees around Bucks County. We buy apples and peaches and pears and plums, and...we could not buy them for our ice cream this year....," said Shira Wade, Managing Director of Owowcow.
"Connected with Bucks County Foodshed Alliance, and they're doing an amazing fundraiser looking to raise $100,000 to support our local tree fruit farmers. We are making people aware of this fundraiser, first and foremost, and we're also donating a portion of proceeds of all fruit-flavored ice cream that we sell for three months in the store," she continued.
Their fruit-flavored fundraiser continues into September.
"With the freeze, it was pretty unexpected. We weren't able to do anything about it, and so we lost our peach crop 98% and a lot of the apples...It's pretty devastating for us... But also we're realizing that there's an amazing community around us that wants to help," said Amy Manoff, owner of Manoff Market & Cidery.
