The top 20 cities for trick-or-treating in America

Planning out your Halloween strategy and mapping the best destinations for trick-or-treating? If you live in the San Francisco Bay Area, consider yourself lucky. Not only was San Francisco named the best city in the United States for trick-or-treating (for the fifth year in a row,) but nearby San Jose, Calif. came in second.

Los Angeles, Milwaukee, Wis., and Phoenix rounded out the Top 5 on Zillow's list, knocking Philadelphia and Chicago out of prime trick-or-treating positions. Charlotte, Dallas, Nashville and Jacksonville all made the list for the first time.

Zillow's methodology isn't necessarily weighed on Halloween enthusiasm, candy options or inherent spookiness; instead the company looks at four data variables: Zillow's home value index, local crime data, how close houses are to each other and the age of the residents who live there. Zillow hopes that these variables will provide accurate data in determining where kids can get the best candy in the least amount of time.
