The gates opened at 5:00 p.m. Thursday with thousands expected to attend - the event has nearly tripled in size since it debuted three years ago.
"We are looking at 80,000 people for this year's festival so that'll officially put us among the biggest in the United States," said Greg Bostrom, festival director.
Look around Dover International Speedway and you see a tent after tent, camper after camper.
More than 50,000 people are camping out for the entire weekend and they began arriving on Wednesday.
"The camper right here, that's the way to go - shower and bathroom," said Cameron Saienni.
"I think we got here early enough so there wasn't that much traffic. We had an RV and we just cruised in because there is a special entrance for them," said Kendal Olsen.
Traffic has been touch and go in Delaware and with weekend beach traffic added to the mix on Friday, it's only expected to get worse.
However for those who already arrived, it's a weekend of music and good times.
"Delaware is really small and we don't have a lot to do around here so to have something this big in our little town is pretty amazing," said Christa Stephens.
