TINICUM TWP., Pennsylvania (WPVI) -- A suspect is dead after a pursuit involving a stolen vehicle ended in a multi-vehicle crash in Delaware County.

Chopper 6 was over the wreck at Route 420 and Rt. 291 in Tinicum Township around 5 p.m. Thursday.

Police in Eddystone Borough say officers spotted a vehicle with stolen tags and a chase ensued when the driver failed to pull over.

The pursuit ended in Tinicum Township where police say the suspect and another vehicle collided.

"The pursuit resulted in a crash involving the fleeing vehicle and one other vehicle. The operator of the stolen fleeing vehicle is deceased," said Eddystone Police Chief Edward Mokshefsky.

The sole occupant of the other vehicle was hospitalized, police said. There was no immediate word on their condition.

"It's very sad to see this turned out this way," said George Keighton.

Keighton was working nearby when the crash occurred.

"I'm a little shaken up for sure because this just happened feet away from where I was working. You see crazy stuff happen but you never expect it to happen to you," he said.

Several police departments and Delaware County detectives remained on the scene for hours Thursday to investigate the crash and determine if this pursuit falls under police policy.

The suspect who died has not been identified.
