The first Disney/Pixar "Toy Story" film premiered in 1995, breaking the animation mold, and earning a place in hearts across the globe.

More than three decades later, the iconic voices of the Sheriff Woody and Buzz Lightyear are still along for the ride.

Action News' Alicia Vitarelli sat down with Tom Hanks and Tim Allen at Pixar Animation Studios in California to talk about this fifth film in the legacy franchise.

"It was never was my intention to be part of this," says Tim Allen, the voice of Buzz Lightyear. "But isn't it amazing? I just was blessed to be working with Tom."

"Somewhere in the course of it all, we realized that we might have to hang out a little bit, and we might have to talk about this thing," says Tom Hanks, the voice of Woody.

"We knew we were onto something, and that it was important. We thought we should start investing in each other a little bit, so that we can embrace it in a way that needed to be embraced."

Theirs is a real friendship, kind of like Woody and Buzz.

"You could go to certain restaurants at certain times and hear Woody and Buzz having a great philosophical conversation about what it's like to be alive, and you'd turn around the corner there will be us sitting there eating our Caesar salads," laughs Hanks.

When it came to signing on for the fifth film in the franchise, Allen said it was a no-brainer.

"Tom said, 'Are you going to do it again?' and I said, 'As long as there's a cool scene.' And there is a cool scene. I wanted to be reunite with my buddy."

Hanks says there's a lesson to learn from Woody and Buzz.

"Be the Woody to somebody's Buzz," he says, "and the Buzz to somebody's Woody."
