PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- The Tony Award-winning musical comedy "Shucked" is making its Philadelphia premiere on Tuesday.

It's a "farm-to-fable" tale about a young woman on a quest to save her small town - and its corn.

"Shucked" stars a Bucks County actor who is thrilled to bring the hilarious and endearing Broadway show home to friends and family.

Doylestown's Mike Nappi plays Peanut.

"He's one of the great thinkers of Cobb County," says Nappi.

It turns out, they need him because the corn is dying.

"It's a super fun part," says Nappi. "It's really a dream role."

Nappi grew up a theater kid in Bucks County, performing on local stages. He graduated from Temple University and went to Broadway to pursue his dream.

"It's been a dream," he says. "I've always wanted to tour. This is my first tour."

And on this tour, he's turned his castmates into Eagles fans!

"We all watched the Super Bowl together," he says. "You would have thought all of them were diehard Eagles fans. It was so cool. Go Birds!"

The cast is heading here this week, and Nappi is ready to play tour guide.

"I'm very excited for Philly," he says. "It's been circled on the calendar. It'll be nice to be home."

The Tony Award-winning musical is fresh off Broadway.

"It's a brand new musical," says Nappi. "I think that's what's magical about this. How often do you get to see a new story with new music and a new book? It's really one of a kind. It's so much fun, it's so silly."

Nappi says come ready to laugh, and learn a lot about corn - and humanity.

"It's really a show about community," he says. "It's about love, but it's really one of the funniest things you're ever going to see."

"Shucked" opens Tuesday, April 21 at the Forrest Theatre and runs through May 3.
