ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (WPVI) -- Trial dates have been set for Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small and his wife, La'Quetta.

Both have rejected plea deals in the case involving the alleged assault of their daughter.

The deal for Mayor Small called for him to plead guilty to third-degree aggravated assault and avoid prison time; however, that plea would have made him ineligible to continue to hold office.

His trial will begin on November 10, less than a week after the upcoming election.

La'Quetta Small, the superintendent of Atlantic City Schools, will go on trial December 1.
