Out-of-control truck crashes into playground in the Kingsessing section of Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- An out-of-control truck crashed into a playground on Tuesday afternoon in the Kingsessing section of Philadelphia.

It happened in the area of 55th Street and Kingsessing Avenue by the S. Weir Mitchell Elementary School.

Officials say the truck hit at least three vehicles before overturning.

The owner of the truck said the vehicle was stolen a few blocks away, and the driver crashed while fleeing.



Surveillance video obtained by Action News shows the white work truck hit an SUV in the intersection before crashes into the playground.

The SUV spins and hits a car parked nearby.

A person was trapped in one of the vehicles involved after the crash.

There was no immediate word on the number or severity of any injuries.
