Police and rescue crews were called to the Cedar Lake Wildlife Management area off Jackson Road in Monroe Twp. around 2 p.m.
After several hours of searching, the body of Rafael Martinez Pascual was pulled from the water around 5 p.m.

Police say Pascual was a citizen of Mexico but lived in Pitman, NJ. He was reportedly swimming with friends when he disappeared beneath the surface.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say this area was closed for public access and swimming is prohibited, according to Wildlife Management Area regulations.
This is the fourth victim to die by drowning in Monroe Township during the 2024 summer season.
