VILLANOVA, Pa. (WPVI) -- Villanova University police have arrested and charged a student with raping another student.

The suspect was identified as D'Hani Cobbs.

Cobbs was listed on Villanova Athletics' website as a wide receiver on the football team, but his bio page has since been taken down. An ESPN stats page says Cobbs is a freshman from South Jersey.

The university says the arrest stems from an assault that took place in December.

According to court records, the rape happened at Good Counsel Hall. Cobbs and the victim returned to the dorm from an off-campus event, and that's when Cobbs allegedly forced the student onto a bed and raped her face down.

Delaware County District Attorney Tanner Rouse says there is corroborating evidence on the victim and Cobbs' cell phones.

The complaint says Cobbs texted the victim later in the day, saying, "My apologies if I made u feel uncomfortable. If u want to talk about it over the phone or in person, we can just come to more of a understanding."

The victim reported the assault to police. A rape kit was performed, and Cobbs was charged last week with rape, aggravated indecent assault, and other charges.

In a statement, Villanova says: "Sexual violence of any kind is not tolerated on our campus and we are committed to both supporting the victim and fostering a safe environment for all of our students."

Cobbs, who is from Sicklerville, New Jersey, is out on $250,000 unsecured bail. Attempts to reach him and his attorney for comment have been unsuccessful.
