Gas leak forces brief evacuation in Washington Twp., NJ

WASHINGTON TWP., New Jersey (WPVI) -- A gas leak in Washington Township, New Jersey, has been contained but several road closures remain in place, according to police.

The leak was reported around 12 p.m. along Pembrook Road.

Police say Pembrook Road at Egg Harbor Road remains closed at this time.

The leak had forced several nearby residents to evacuate, but police say they can now safety return.

No injuries were reported.



South Jersey Gas crews will remain on the scene.

Atlantic City Electric is expected to be restored soon.
