Wawa celebrates grand opening of 1000th fuel store in Springfield, Delaware County

Wawa is celebrating the grand opening of its newest store in Delaware County, which is the 1,000th store to include a gas station.

SPRINGFIELD, Pa. (WPVI) -- A new Wawa is opening its doors in Delaware County, and it's the company's 1,000th store that also has fuel.

Doors opened at 8 a.m. Thursday at the intersection of Baltimore Pike and Leamy Avenue in Springfield.

The first 250 customers scored a free Wawa t-shirt.

Philadelphia Eagles mascot Swoop and the Eagles Cheerleaders were there for the big celebration, along with the team's drumline.

The ceremony also featured a check presentation to the Eagles Autism Foundation and Philabundance.
