It's a rare occurrence, but this year, the two nominees chosen at the Philadelphia Independence Awards are from the same school and were co-stars of the same musical.
Right now, the graduating seniors from a small performing arts high school in West Chester are living their Broadway dream.
Scarlett Horoho and Zane Zangwill were Natasha and Pierre in their high school production of "Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812."
They just graduated from the PALCS Center for Performing and Fine Arts in West Chester, but they missed their high school graduation because they'll be in New York City competing at the Jimmy Awards.
"When they put our pictures up on the billboard in Times Square, we are wearing our caps and gowns to take some pictures," says Zangwill. "It will prove that we're missing graduation for something worth it!"
Zangwill and Horoho are two of 116 regional nominees representing 58 cities at the Jimmy Awards.
"The Jimmy Awards are like the high school Tony Awards," says Zangwill. "They are the biggest deal ever to anyone who's ever done high school theater."
Back in May, Zangwill and Horoho competed at the Philadelphia Independence Awards at the historic Miller Theater, and both won the Jimmy Awards nomination.
For the past 10 days, the 18-year-old stars have been chasing their Broadway dreams straight to New York City. As part of the chance to compete in the Jimmy Awards, they have also been participating in an intense program packed with rehearsals, coaching, and masterclasses with theater professionals.
"We get to be in that room full of all of these artists," says Zangwill. "We get to share and collaborate and bring joy to the room, which is so exciting."
When they compete in the Jimmy Awards tonight, they will both make their debuts on a Broadway stage at the Minskoff Theater, home to Disney's The Lion King.
"I still can't even quite process how incredible and how life-changing it could really be," says Horoho. "It doesn't matter what the outcome is, enjoy it. That's really what this school has taught me."
The Jimmy Awards are streaming live Monday night at 7:30 on the Jimmy Awards YouTube Channel.
