The shooting happened around 9:40 Tuesday in New Brooklyn Park in Winslow Township.
The teen was taken to the hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
Winslow Township Police haven't released many details, but said there is no immediate threat to the public.
Chopper 6 was over the area Tuesday night, where several evidence markers could be seen in the parking lot.
It's a family-friendly park with a walking trail, a playground, and basketball courts. Neighbors are shocked that this happened in what they consider a safe place to take their kids.
"It's a wonderful place to come. There are people of all ages who come here, from young children up to older adults, and the teens really enjoy it as well. We see people walking their dogs all the time and enjoying the facilities - the playground is a big hit," Dorothea Clark said. "Total surprise. I never expected something like that in this area. And I feel so badly for the young man who's been shot. I hope he makes it."
"Yeah, I was very shocked. I grew up over here in Eastmont Lane, Eden Hollow, and we had nothing like that. It's very shocking," Vincent Coleman said. "This is to me may be an isolated incident. I will always come back to the park with my child."
"I'm surprised," Michel Price said. "Since they uplifted this park, everything's been - I mean, you see so many people that come here with their kids and stuff like that."
The shooting is under investigation by both township police and the Camden County Prosecutor's Office. If you know anything, you're asked to give them a call.
