Woman killed, man rescued following house fire in Bensalem, Pa.

BENSALEM, Pa. (WPVI) -- A woman was killed and a man was rescued following a house fire in Bucks County early Tuesday morning.

Flames broke out around 2:45 a.m. on the 2700 block of Bellview Drive in Bensalem, Pennsylvania.

Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke and flames coming from the home.

Officials say a man was waiting outside, telling firefighters there was a woman trapped in the home.

Firefighters pulled her out from near the kitchen, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.



She has been identified as 56-year-old Christine Toal.

The man was taken to Jefferson Torresdale hospital for treatment.

His identity has not been released.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
