Woman dies from injuries in New Castle hit-and-run

NEW CASTLE, Del. (WPVI) -- One of the women struck by a hit-and-run driver in New Castle, Delaware has died from her injuries.

Authorities say two women were trying to cross Route 273 around 10:30 Thursday night when they were hit by a car.

One of the women, identified as Gia Smith, suffered serious injuries. She died at Christiana Hospital on Friday.

The other woman suffered non-life threatening injuries and was treated and released.

Police say the driver did not stop at the scene.

Investigators are looking for a silver 2007-2011 Nissan Altima which should have heavy front end damage.
